southern chicken

So, I wanted to blog about how bad the McDonald's so called Southern Style Chicken sandwich is. I mean come on, this is only their way of trying to duplicate the success of Chick-Fil-A's chicken sandwich. Anyway, I bought one recently, only to be disappointed. I thought there might be something to it after Kam told me that they are really good. I shoulda known. They are not.

So I was gonna find McDonald's site on the sandwich that is the attempt at over throwing Chick-fil-a, and found that McDonald's has a site called www.i-am-asian.com. How weird. Look at this.

wow. So how does "Southern Style" chicken even remotely connect with being Asian?

Everyone should go check out the McDonald's across from NRH campus. There is a picture of two kids eating McDonald's with Chopsticks....I still haven't figured that one out either...

According to the website:

"In recognition of the extraordinary accomplishments and contributions of the Asian Pacific American community, McDonald’s is proud to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is celebrated every May to commemorate the contributions Asian Pacific Americans have made to the United States. On October 2, 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed a Joint Resolution establishing the first week in May 1979 as Asian Pacific American Heritage Week. The recognition was permanently expanded to one full month as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 14 years later. May was designated as Asian Pacific Heritage Month because of two historic events: the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants in America on May 7, 1843 and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad (by many Chinese laborers) on May 10, 1869.

Asian Pacific Americans are greatly impacting mainstream American culture. Trends such as yoga, feng shui and Asian fusion cuisine are only a few examples."

Wow - that is not nearly as much fun as the mystery and ponderings of why the "i-am-asian" website and chopsticks were involved with McDonald's.

I agree - the sandwich is not that hot. I go to Chick-fil-a if I want a sandwich like that.

Throwndown: Chick-fil-A vs. McDonalds Southern Style Chicken:

Not a bad comparison of the two - but Chick-Fil-A is still my choice.
